Newsletter from Jonathan Wolff 15 June 2009
This newsletter was sent by Jonathan Wolff to his general mailing list and is shared with you here because of his involvement with SPMA as the new Director of Education for the 2009-2010 school year as mentioned within. We are honored to have Mr. Wolff working with our beloved school!

Dear Friends –
As this school year draws to a close, I offer my heartfelt thanks for the friendship and opportunities for collaboration you have extended to me. I am always inspired by your dedication to the children, families, and communities you serve, and am deeply grateful for the privilege of working with school leaders, educators, and parents like yourself.
As most of you know, I’ve been working with Montessori public and private schools as a consultant for more than a dozen years. In the last few years, I’ve missed being with my family and have been exploring ways to reduce my travel schedule. I am happy to announce that, as of July 6th, I will be serving as Assistant Head of School for the Early Childhood Program at The Renaissance School, in Oakland, CA, as well as Director of Education for Sea Pines Montessori Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Margaret and I are moving to the San Francisco Bay Area this Summer. I’ll let you know where we land and will continue to stay in touch via this newsletter.
This Fall, I’m finishing a handful of consultations and presenting workshops at the AMS Conference in Garden Grove, CA in October (www.amshq.org/conference2009annual.htm); the MEPI Conference in Kansas City, also in October (www.mepiforum.org/); and the IMC Peace Academy in Sarasota in November (www.montessori.org). In February, 2010, I’m speaking at the Utah Montessori Conference (www.utahmontessori.org/ConferenceInfo.htm). I look forward to seeing you there.
I also plan to do more writing and will continue to offer my “best practice” publications through my web site at www.JonathanWolff.org, including THE SELF-AWAKENED CHILD SERIES, the character education program I created to foster self esteem, metacognitive abilities, and social intelligence in children 3 - 9 years old. Each of the 15 books focuses on a specific quality: “Acceptance,” “Assertiveness,” “Compassion,” “Courage,” “Creativity,” “Forgiveness,” “Honesty,” “Kindness,” “Loyalty,” “Peace,” “Respect,” “Responsibility,” “Self-Discipline,” “Trust,” and “Unity.” Each book includes exercises that help children reach their full potential as conscious and caring beings.
You can order the series or any of the books in the series via my web site at www.jonathanwolff.org/catalog.htm . If you order the series by June 30th, we are happy to give you a copy of CENTERSTONES, an illustrated collection of affirmations that develop clarity, calmness, courage, concentration, confidence, cheerfulness, and compassion in young children.
Thank you, once again, for allowing me to come into your schools and be a part of the incredible work you do. It’s been my joy.
On Behalf of the Child,
Jonathan Wolff
