Haiti Relief Drive by MMUN
SPMA shares this message with you as part of our ongoing global outreach and community service.
Dear Montessori Model United Nations Community,
As you know Haiti suffered an enormous catastrophe. This is a disaster of the highest order and help is needed.
We are working with the Bouceldart Montessori School in Port Au Prince Haiti to funnel supplies first to their children and families, and then for whomever they can help.
Many of you and your students have met Raina, the Head of School, and the student Delegates from Haiti at our Montessori Model UN Conferences over the past two years. We know that the school and their students have survived. The school has been converted to a clinic for a group of Dominican doctors who came to help. They are gathering all the students on Monday for assessments of psychological distress.
According to CARE and other relief organizations, the best form of help is money because it allows them to purchase what they need. According to Raina, what is needed now are first aid, medical supplies and blankets.
If you wish to make an online donation, you may do so by going to the MMUN website where you will find a Haiti Relief Button. If you wish to send a cash donation, please make your check payable to MMUN-Haiti Relief. Checks can be mailed to MMUN 11621 Linden Grove. Dr. Fort Wayne, IN 46845
All the funds will go directly to the Bouceldart Montessori School and administered by their Head of School. We will receive periodic updates on the impact of the donations.
This is an important time for the Montessori community to share what we have with others who are in such desperate need.
You will receive a receipt for tax purposes. The situation is dire and your help is needed. This is an opportunity for your students to exercise their social responsibility skills they have honed as Delegates to MMUN.
Best personal regards,
Judith Cunningham
