Garden to Lunchbox @ SPMA Project!

As you may have noticed, SPMA now has its very own kitchen garden on the front side of campus! This garden installation was headed by Jeff Ross, master gardener of Blackberry Farm, his lovely wife Rachael, SPMA staff, students and parent volunteers.

We planted an array of herbs, tomatoes, asparagus, strawberries, beans galore, sunflowers, cosmos, carrots, onions and many other plants. Several heirloom seeds have origins in South Carolina and there is one pea variety that heralds from Tanzania!

If you have any extra garden supplies – tools, hose attachments, plant supports, pine needles, etc. – that you would like to donate to the collaborative garden, please bring them to school and place them in the landscaping niche housing the spigot feeding the garden hose. Thank you!

Do come out and enjoy the garden. Soon all the plants will be marked by the Manatees and we will all enjoy watching the bounty develop. If you happen to see any weeds growing, please feel free to pull them.

Grow SPMA, grow!
