• Monday, September 13th: First day of Bess’ Lunch Program – click here for an order form

• Community Meeting & Business Expo: Join us on campus Tuesday, September 21st in your child’s classroom from 6:30 – 7 pm for teacher announcements, classroom event sign-ups and meet your Room Parent. Then please join us in the lobby from 7 to 8 pm for a SPMA Community Business Expo where you (parents, teachers, staff) can bring a business card of yours or your spouse’s to display on the Professional Board. The card will then be added to a directory for future SPMA community reference. SPMA’s Booster Club, Committees, and After-school Clubs will also be showcasing their projects so that you can preview the upcoming planned fun events.

SPMA Booster Club Notes:

• Save the Date! The South Carolina Scarecrow Walkabout in the Forest Preserve and the SPMA Big Event Harvest Moon Gala will take place the afternoon and evening of Saturday, October 23rd. Daytime fun for the whole family and evening fun for adults. Open to the public! Details soon to follow.

• The Booster Club needs you! If you have some time to invest in the Booster Club we’d love to have you on board in any capacity. Please send an email to Meredith Dimuzio who can help match you to a perfect task. We love, admire and cherish our volunteers!

• It’s time to relink (all VIC card holders must relink this year) your Harris Teeter VIC card to Together in Education for SPMA. Go to harristeeter.com or see the rep at the store customer service counter. SPMA benefits from a portion of the money you save while shopping at Harris Teeter. Thank you!

• Publix keychain cards, which also benefit SPMA, will be made available at the first Community Meeting on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30 pm.

• The Booster Club will be collecting Box Tops for Education again this year. A bin in the foyer is marked for your Box Tops. A complete list of product featuring Box Tops is located here.

Environmental Committee:

• A Kitchen Garden Work Party is scheduled for Saturday, September 11th at 9- 11 AM to finish securing garden stakes, adding twine, planting seeds and watering. We’d love to see you there!

• As part of our EcoSchool initiative we encourage parents, if expected to wait in carpool pick-up line for longer than 10 minutes, to reduce their carbon emissions by turning off their car. This small habit can help reduce toxic emissions into the campus air. We also encourage anyone who can to carpool with other SPMA families, ride their bikes to school and/or to purchase carbon offsets as ways to help protect the our beautiful environment. These are all voluntary actions that you can do if they feel right for you.
