Important Dates:

• Tuesday, October 19th SPMA Community Meeting: “A Child’s Place in the Universe” presentation, “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” movie, and a gift of Forest People!! More details here – be sure to RSVP for childcare by Monday, October 18th.

• SPMA SC Scarecrow Walkabout & Harvest Moon Lowcountry Celebration (aka The Big Event) Saturday, October 23rd! Please let your family and friends know that they are invited too!

• Early dismissal at 11:30 for all students Thursday, October 28th and no school Friday, October 29th for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Crew will not be in session these two days.

SPMA Booster Club Notes:

• We need more volunteers for Saturday, October 23rd. Please sign up online here.

• Families should have received, via your child’s bag, a two-sided colorful card. One side is an invitation to the Scarecrow Walkabout. The other side is an invitation to the Harvest Moon Celebration. Please write your name (first and last, or just last) anywhere on the card and give the card to a friend. When your friend attends the event, the card can be redeemed as a coupon for 1/2 price off a commemorative event t-shirt on Saturday!

• Classroom scarecrows are due Monday, October 18th by 3 pm

• Harvest Moon Celebration RSVP cards due Monday, October 18th by 3 pm

• Auction Donations are due Tuesday, October 19th at the Community Meeting (auction forms)

• Pre-ordered commemorative t-shirts will be delivered to students Friday, October 22nd. Extra t-shirts will be on sale at the Scarecrow Walkabout.

• Big Event Committee meeting 3 pm Friday, October 22nd after carpool to load truck.

• Box Tops, Harris Teeter (relink card with SPMA 2563-VIC PIN) Publix Partner Cards (if you need one email the Booster Club and we will send one home with student). Details here.

School Notes:

• SPMA is on WHHI-TV! Check out our interviews and commercials here! Lowcountry Child airs at 7:30 pm daily on Channel 3.

• Starting Monday, October 4th through the month of November, SPMA will be hosting a food drive for Deep Well. The collection sites are in the foyer of the school in the two brown baskets. We are asking for families to bring in non-perishable food items. Here is a list of specific foods Deep Well needs for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners for families.

Cranberry sauce
Green Beans
Corn
Yams
Pumpkin
Fruit can be in a jar

Boxed:

Corn bread mix
Stuffing mix

Packets of Gravy mix too.

• The Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Leadership Class of 2011 toured SPMA Wednesday, October 13th. Photos from their visit are on Shutterfly!

• Every Friday is Spirit Day! Go to ShopSPMA to click into Land’s End school uniform shop. Special Offer: There is a promotion going on now until September 25th. All orders placed will receive a 25% discount. The reference code is OUTLB.

• Order forms for Bess’ lunch are due each Friday by 10 am for the following week.
