Important Dates:

• Tuesday, November 23rd: Grandparents Day! Preprimary 11:40- Noon (students leave with family); Primary, Elementary & Middle School 8:15- 9:00 am

• Tuesday, November 23rd: Deadline to Pre-order SPMA Gullah Story Books to receive in time for Christmas

• No School Wednesday, November 24th – Friday, November 26th for Thanksgiving break. Happy Holiday!

School Notes:

• At the November 16th Community Meeting, Nurse Ruckno shared Dr. Sears’ L.E.A.N. program guidelines for student nutrition. The handout can be viewed here.

• CSA boxes are coming to SPMA in January 2011! Learn about Heritage Organic Farm’s box program here. Details will follow about how to sign up to receive your bi-weekly farm fresh organic produce!

• A new episode of Lowcountry Child is here featuring Shannon Alford speaking about Grandparents Day at SPMA! Lowcountry Child airs at 7:30 pm daily on Channel 3. All WHHI/Lowcountry Child SPMA videos here.

• Through the month of November SPMA will be hosting a food drive for Deep Well. The collection sites are in the foyer of the school in the two brown baskets. We are asking for families to bring in non-perishable food items. Here is a list of foods Deep Well needs for Thanksgiving, Christmas Dinners and every day for families:

Canned or jarred fruit: cranberry sauce
Whole grain rice
Canned vegetables: green beans, corn, yams, pumpkin
Jar sauerkraut
Canned or dried beans
Canned soup
Whole grain pasta
Spaghetti sauce
Peanut butter
Jelly or jam
Canned diced or whole tomatoes
Boxed corn bread mix or stuffing mix
Packets of gravy mix

• Order forms for Bess’ lunch are due each Friday by 10 am for the following week.
