Message from Head of School May 30, 2011

More than 4,000 children have lost their parents in the US military service since September 11, 2001. These moms and dads were our peers in hoping to raise happy and healthy children. We at SPMA honor their bravery and are thankful for their service. On this Memorial Day weekend, it is important to honor all of the men and women who have fought for our independence and our freedom since the founding of our great nation.

It was with careful planning that our Booster Club chose Memorial Day to celebrate our inaugural “Reel in Redfish” fishing tournament. First, it allows us to celebrate this important holiday as a school community. Second, 100% of the proceeds goes to scholarships – allowing students from all backgrounds to experience a Montessori education. In turn, these will be tomorrow’s leaders…assuring us all that this world will continue to be a beautiful place!

Ours is a great nation, built through ethics and values from immigrants from around the world. Sea Pines Montessori Academy is comprised of diverse families. Currently, we have over thirteen languages that are spoken amongst our student body. For over 40 years, our “purposefully small” school has honored it’s Christian foundation and we have maintained a deep sense of American patriotism. Along the way, we welcome families of all cultural and religious backgrounds. The common denominators are an unshakable faith in our children and Montessori, which can be found in 22,000 schools around the world in 125 countries.

In closing, it is with deep appreciation and honor that SPMA celebrates Memorial Day. Please come and support our scholarship program. The band is amazing. Shelter Cove is calling your name. I’ll look forward to seeing you all at “Reel in Redfish” fishing tournament or the after-party at San Miguel’s @ 6:00 in the evening.

Fondly,
Darcie
