“Good Garbage makes Good Art” Wish List

Dear Parents and Staff,

The first day of school is just around the corner!! With that, the Art Department will be in need of your junk….aka, art supplies! Please see the list below should you have any of these household items that you could kindly donate to our creative endeavors.

  • Tin cans (empty and clean)
  • Newspaper
  • Any interesting photos, magazines or collage materials
  • Styrofoam egg cartons
  • Electrical wire
  • Chicken wire (or any bendable wire)
  • Puzzle pieces (doesn’t need to be complete)
  • Paper towel rolls
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Frames – large or small
  • Canvas (with or without art – the ugly will not be denied, but embraced)
  • Sewing patterns
  • Lumber/random end cuts- contractor fathers and home owners in remodeling phase, please bring us those bins of perfect 3D pieces!
  • House paint
  • Spray paint
  • Bamboo – gardeners and landscapers, if you clear bamboo, we need the stalks: straight, light, glue-able and paint-able
  • Unwanted digital cameras – doesn’t have to be fancy just functional

THE UNUSUAL – As you clean out those toy boxes, junk drawers and floorboards, think outside the trashcan. We need McD’s Happymeal toys, broken baby dolls and Barbies, screws, nuts, empty spools of thread, scratched CDS, old cell phones, etc., etc., etc.! The more random and interesting the better!  As long as it can be hot-glued down and take acrylic paint, it qualifies.

Throughout the year send them in with your student and let them show junk can be awesome “funky-junky.”

Also, we have over a hundred art students, so anytime you find yourself with multiples of something, think of the Art Department, no matter how random! Please email me and we can discuss the possibilities. The Art Department is always in need of donations of duct tape, masking tape and brown parchment tape.

Thank you!
Sarah Perry, Art Teacher
