Traditional First Grade Cones
Many 1st and 4th year Elementary families arrived on campus this morning for orientation and saw the beautiful cones hanging by the front door. What are the cones all about?
They are known in Germany as Schultüten and are filled with treats to celebrate the start of First Grade. In each cone was a piece of fruit (because the children are ripe and ready to start Elementary). The first grade students compiled all the fruit in a basket and will be making fruit salad in celebration of the start of school. They also received a personalized letter from each teacher welcoming them into Elementary. They also received a couple of other goodies.
