The SPMA Gators to Compete in Cross Country Meet
All families are encouraged to come out in full school gear and spirit to cheer on our Cross Country team!
On Wednesday, October 5th at 4:30 pm, the inaugural athletic team for Sea Pines Montessori Academy, known as “The SPMA Gators,” will compete against other schools in a Cross Country Meet hosted by St. Gregory the Great Catholic School. The runners will traverse a course on farmland off Pinckney Colony Road near Rose Hill Plantation.
The Gators competitive team was started at the beginning of the 2011-12 school year and is being coached by Priscilla Kelly, SPMA Athletic Director, Lower Elementary Teacher and former collegiate athlete; John Dogger, SPMA parent, Go Tri Sports owner and competitive triathlete; Chip Collins, SPMA parent and competitive triathlete; and Kevin Patrick, SPMA parent and former collegiate athlete.
Team members include:
- 8th grade: Ella Patrick
- 7th grade: Phillip Evans, Uige “Rik” Ujaan
- 6th grade: Jack Klippel, Martha Collins, Grace Vanderslice, Carly Timperman
- 5th grade: Collin Klippel, Corbin McKinney
- 4th grade: Annika Dogger
The team has been training at 7:15 am before school in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve and on Sunday afternoon on the beach and/or the Cross Island Parkway.
