Dear SPMA Community,

Greetings and peace to you and your family!

This week’s full moon, the variance in temperature and my hectic family calendar has made for an interesting week. My grandpa use to say, “Only boring people get bored” and he is smiling down from heaven knowing there isn’t a bored person at SPMA.

On campus, we are collecting for Deep Well. It is so wonderful to see grandparents make their annual shopping trip on behalf of our collection. The Middle School students have already made multiple trips dropping off the donated items. Parents can be seen all around campus helping with classroom projects, decorating trees and picking up their poinsettias.

In the classrooms, the children are beginning to button up their fall semester. They are working independently, striving for mastery in every lesson. As they collaboratively work, there are also frequent student meetings at the “peace table” where the children are empowered with words to speak through a difference of opinion.

Of campus, the Board of Trustees met for their December meeting, discussing policies and procedures, while they constantly strive to support SPMA.

Members of the Bow Tides (Elementary Suzuki violin students) traveled to a retirement home on the island to share their gift of music. It was truly beautiful. Not only were the musicians fabulous, they represented SPMA with grace and courtesy. The adults smiled, clapped and some sang along to the familiar holiday songs the children beautiful played on their violins.

Usually the campus is rather peaceful Friday night. However, our 6th years and Middle School students are busy preparing for another babysitting fundraiser as I write my weekly Class Notes. The lucky children that attend tonight’s event will be treated like royalty while enjoying the fellowship and company of some great kids!

To everyone, have a great weekend and don’t forget to pencil in some downtime; both with the children and for yourself. Next week will be another busy week on campus; so don’t forget to read your classroom(s) Class Notes to stay abreast of any last-minute developments.

Sincerely,
Darcie
