On Thursday, January 26th SPMA Primary Teacher Meg O’Brien was honored as a Hilton Head Island Teacher of the Year. One teacher from each island school earned the distinguished honor by the Hilton Head Island Rotary Club and was commemorated with a Proclamation by Hilton Head Island Mayor Drew Laughlin.

Mrs. O’Brien has been teaching at SPMA for 23 years. Prior, she taught for seven years with Todd Ballentine at the Montessori school he started off of New Orleans Road.

Congratualtions Meg! We are so proud of you!

SPMA will be participating in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” initiative for the third year in a row on Wednesday, February 1st. Middle School students will be collecting donations (coins and dollars) in soup pots during morning carpool. There will be one soup pot for the Giants and one for the Patriots who will play against each other in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5th. Donate to your team of preference! It will be fun to see which team collects the most! All donations will benefit the Grateful Hearts Soup Kitchen to fight local hunger.

Encourage your children to show their team spirit by wearing Giant, Patriot, SPMA or other team shirts on this special morning of giving to those in need. Have fun! Do good!

SPMA collected $309.26 in 2010 and $117.84 in 2011. Can we surpass these numbers? Go SPMA! Let’s make this year bigger than ever! Bring lots of change to help tackle hunger.

Dear Sea Pines Montessori Academy Family & Friends,

I am so excited to announce the launch of the “Have a Heart” Annual Fund campaign for 2012!

This fund has always been an important arm in SPMA’s fiscal responsibilities and is key to bridging the gap between tuition revenue and the monies raised by the SPMA Booster Club. It is fundamental in allowing our amazing school to meet budgetary needs, such as teacher salaries and operating costs. We have been so fortunate to enjoy a world class Montessori school that elevates our children to a higher standard of learning!

In order to continue to enjoy and benefit from the high quality of education, our school requires that we, the school community, consider supporting SPMA by contributing to the “Have a Heart” Annual Fund campaign.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have regarding this fund and campaign. I am happy to help in any way!

Sincerely,

Carrie Collins
SPMA Trustee & Parent
