Join over 300 of your Irish friends during the 15th Annual Running of the Green. The Hilton Head Shamrock 5K (3.1 miles) run and health walk will be held on Saturday morning March 13th at 8:00am.

The flat and fast Shamrock Run race course starts on Pope Avenue, In front of New York City Pizza at Heritage Plaza. It will take runners down Pope Avenue, North Forest Beach Drive and then Lagoon Road to the finish area at the corner of Lagoon Road and Pope Avenue.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers plus the top three in each age category will receive unique awards. All finishers will also receive green party beads.

Pre-registration is only $25 until 3/5, $28 thur 3/11 and $30 Race-day from 7:00 - 7:45am. All participants will receive a colorful Shamrock Run T-shirt and green beads. New York City Pizza will host a block party and an awards ceremony featuring refreshments, pizza, music and door prizes following the event.

Collaborative Community Irish Dinner (Menu & Entertainment)

Our Irish dinner plans are in jeopardy!! The deadline for making reservations was Monday, March 8th. As of this writing, very few families of students, teachers and administrative staff have signed up. Food needs to be ordered Tuesday afternoon, March 9th. Please, if you plan to attend (and we hope you will!!!) please, please, please get your reservation money ($5/person) in to the front office by Noon on Tuesday. This is the only way we will know how many people to expect Friday night or if we need to cancel the event due to lack of sufficient reservations.

Tuesday at Noon will be the drop dead luck ‘o the Irish absolutely positively last chance to sign up.

The Sugg Sisters are scheduled to perform a traditional Irish dance, the Middle School is baking traditional Irish Soda Bread to sell, we have parents volunteering to make potato soup (and we could use more volunteers!), The Secret of Roan Inish will be the featured movie and a sneak peek of the parade float can be taken. (Parade participants are encouraged to attend the dinner to be briefed of last minute parade day logistics.)

SPMA’s float to participate in the HHI St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The SPMA Eco-Carnival parade float is going to be a smash hit! Details for participants have been updated here. We hope that many SPMA families will walk, push strollers and pull wagons alongside the float with their children. Let’s show HHI as many of our Preprimary, Primary, Elementary and Middle School students as possible! The more, the merrier…and the better chance we have to win another Grand Marshal’s Award! • SPMA Outreach: Dana Henry to present “Guilt Meets the Modern Woman” on Saturday, March 6th at 4:30 pm. RSVP.

• Our monthly Community Dinner will be an Irish meal on Friday, March 12th at 6:30 pm. Reservations are $5 per person to the front office due by Monday, March 8th. (An accurate head count for food is necessary - please get in your reservations on time.) Maximum seating: 80 people. Event is open to the public. St. Patrick Day Parade participants are encouraged to attend because final Parade Day logistics will be reviewed. Menu & Entertainment Details

• The March 16th at 6:30 pm Community Meeting will be by invitation for families with students in their third year of their three year cycle in the Primary and Lower and Upper Elementary programs.

• Grandparent’s Day will be Friday, March 26th from 8:15 am to 9:00 am for primary through Middle school. Grandparent’s Day for Preprimary will be on Thursday, March 25th at 11:40 am. For grandparents who visit Preprimary students, please plan to take your grandchildren with you as you leave the school.
