Sea Pines Montessori Academy was founded in 1968 as the first Montessori school in South Carolina by Mary Stone Fraser, wife of Charles E. Fraser, developer of the Sea Pines Resort. The Academy offers an authentic Montessori education from 18 months of age through the sixth grade. Affiliated with with American Montessori Society (AMS) and accredited by the International Montessori Council (IMC) for its Toddler, Primary and Elementary programs, Sea Pines Montessori Academy serves the families of more than 250 students from Hilton Head Island and Bluffton.
Sea Pines Montessori Academy seeks to meet the individual needs of the whole child in an environment enriched with multi-sensory, concept-building materials, music, art and athletics. Capturing the natural curiosity inherent in children, Sea Pines Montessori Academy cultivates a life-long love of learning in order for the students to emerge as competent, confident, and independent citizens of the world.
Sea Pines Montessori Academy offers a campus tour by appointment, encouraging anyone who is interested in learning about the Montessori Method and the school to come see Montessori children at work. As the first Montessori school founded in the state of South Carolina, Sea Pines Montessori Academy strives to maintain its status as a premier Montessori model, infusing students with a passion for excellence, a reservoir of compassion and the ability to lead into the future with adaptability and global awareness.
