Primary (ages 3–6)

Montessori Primary Students Working the Binomial and Trinomial Cubes

The order and progression of the Primary Montessori curriculum is contained in the flow of the materials that are placed on the shelves. Each avenue of learning goes from easier concepts to more difficult ones placed on display in each area. Every classroom teacher is responsible for keeping accurate records of each child’s progression through each avenue of the Montessori curriculum.

The Sea Pines Montessori Academy curriculum check sheets for the Primary program are filled out for each child in each area of development. The teacher takes note of all lessons presented to your child and all lessons your child has mastered proficiently enough to move to the next level in the curriculum. At your Parent-Teacher conference, she may share with you your child’s progress within the overall curriculum. Keep in mind that no two children are exactly the same and each child proceeds along his “path of learning” at his own pace.

At the end of the Kindergarten year, a written report card will be sent home to the parents giving a culmination of the child’s skills and mastery levels. The curriculum check-sheets remain in the child’s permanent file as well as a copy of the report card. The student’s file will be sent on to the school where the child will attend first grade. If he enrolls in the Montessori Elementary program, the child will easily continue and move forward in the Montessori curriculum.
