Language

The Montessori language material helps the child to classify his world by broadening his vocabulary. Through pictures and real objects, vocabulary is encouraged and developed.

Reading begins when the child is introduced to the sounds of the letters. Next, he is given the letter for that sound with sandpaper letters, which he traces properly with his finger; and finally he is shown how to put the sounds together to form words. Reading and writing are introduced simultaneously in the environment, and the child develops these skills throughout the curriculum.
